Bikin Menangis! Tinggal Digubuk, Gadis Kecil Rawat Ibu ODGJ

Kisah seorang gadis cilik mungkin bisa membuat Anda terharu, bahkan sampai menangis. Gadis kecil yang masih berusia tujuh tahun ini harus mengalami ketidakberuntungan. Gadis cilik yang tinggal di Desa Kroya, Indramayu, Jawa Barat, harus berjibaku seorang diri merawat ibunda yang diduga depresi atau ODGJ. 

Aktivitas seperti menyapu hingga memegang berbagai alat rumah tangga lainnya sepenuhnya dilakukannya. Ia menjual botol bekas hingga menanti bantuan dari tetangga untuk dapat bertahan hidup.

Kisah gadis cilik yang masih duduk di bangku sekolah dasar (SD) ini diunggah di akun YouTube Toiskandar iNews, melansir, Minggu (22/8/2021).

Setiap hari ia dan ibunya tinggal di gubuk sederhana yang terbuat dari ayam bambu.  Kamar bambu seringkali tidak cukup kuat untuk menahan air hujan.

 Namun, niat tulus gadis kecil itu mengatasi segalanya.  Ia mengaku senang bisa merawat ibunya.

 “Senang (merawat ibu),” katanya.

 Pemerintah setempat pun langsung turun memberikan bantuan kepada gadis cilik dan ibunya, usia kisah mereka menjadi viral.

Kekinian mereka dirawat di panti sosial milik pemerintah. Kondisi sang ibu yang mengalami depresi juga dikabarkan sudah berangsur membaik.

Floods beginning to recede in Klang Valley, says Selangor Bomba

SHAH ALAM: Floods that hit the Klang Valley due to incessant rain from Friday morning (Dec 17) are beginning to gradually recede, says the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.

"Floodwaters in most areas have started to recede but there are areas near rivers where the water seems to be stagnant, such as in Taman Sri Muda here," its director Norazam Khamis told Bernama.

Meanwhile, Bernama's aerial survey on board the department’s helicopter showed that the flood situation had not subsided in some areas of the Klang Valley on Sunday (Dec 19).

In the Taman Sri Muda area, most routes and terrace houses were still flooded.

A check around Section 13, Shah Alam, revealed that some areas were still flooded and difficult for vehicles to pass through.

Other areas still affected include Taman Sri Nanding and Batu 18 in Hulu Langat.

Hong Kong tycoon Jimmy Lai and 7 others sentenced to prison over banned Tiananmen vigil

A Hong Kong court has sentenced media tycoon Jimmy Lai and seven other pro-democracy figures to up to 14 months behind bars for participating in an unauthorized assembly last year to commemorate the Tiananmen Square crackdown.
Lai, the founder of the now-defunct Apple Daily newspaper, was sentenced to 13 months in prison at the District Court for inciting and participating in the peaceful candlelight vigil on June 4 last year, which authorities declared illegal. He had earlier pleaded not guilty.
Although he faces multiple charges under Hong Kong's national security law, Monday's charges were not under the controversial legislation.

The Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China has organized the candlelight vigil in the city's Victoria Park every year since 1990. But authorities banned the event for the first time last year, citing coronavirus risks.

he alliance disbanded in September this year, after police arrested several of its leaders on national security grounds. During the mitigation hearing on Monday, Lai said he decided to light a candle that day to remind the world of those who died for justice and truth at Tiananmen Square in 1989, according to public broadcaster Radio Television Hong Kong. Former lawmaker Lee Cheuk-yan, who was the chairman of the alliance, was sentenced to 14 months in prison for his role in the vigil. Former vice-chairwoman Chow Hang-tung was also sentenced to 12 months in prison. 

In May, the court also sentenced Joshua Wong and three other activists to up to 10 months in prison over their involvement in the same rally.

Iconic commemoration
Hong Kong is the only place on Chinese soil where a mass annual vigil has been held to mark the bloody crackdown in and around Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989.
The event remains one of the most tightly censored topics in mainland China, with discussions of it scrubbed from mass media. Chinese authorities have not released an official death toll, but estimates range from several hundred to thousands.

That any commemoration could be held in Hong Kong was often seen as iconic of the city's autonomy from China, a litmus test for political freedoms in the special administrative region.
However, the introduction last year of a national security law -- which criminalizes secession, subversion and collusion with foreign forces with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment -- has forced the group behind the June 4 vigil to disband, after authorities arrested several of its leaders under the law.

Polls close in Hong Kong’s overhauled ‘patriots’-only election

 

 

 

Voting ended late Sunday for Hong Kong’s legislature poll under new “patriots only” rules imposed by Beijing that drastically reduced the number of directly elected seats and control who can run for office.

Polling stations closed at 10:30 pm (1430 GMT) with the latest figures suggesting the turnout could be the lowest since the city’s 1997 handover to China.

Hong Kong voters headed to the polls on Sunday for the first time since an electoral overhaul and a sweeping national security law were imposed on the city.

The Legislative Council election has been criticised by some activists, foreign governments and rights groups.

Hong Kong government leaders have been urging people to vote, saying the poll is representative. They insist the overhaul, like the security law imposed last year, was needed to ensure stability after protracted protests that rocked the Asian financial hub in 2019.

Turnout has been at the core of election debates, with the government on Saturday sending blanket text messages to Hong Kong residents urging people to vote and some critics calling on people to stay away as a protest.

It is a crime in Hong Kong to incite someone not to vote or to cast an invalid vote.

Early indications suggested turnout was far lower than the last legislative election in 2016, according to Reuters news agency witnesses.

The previous turnout election was 58 percent, while the 43.6 percent in 2000 was the lowest since Britain returned the city to Chinese rule in 1997.

Some of the first to vote as polls opened at 8:30am (0030 GMT) said they were keen to do their civic duty to ensure stability.

University language teacher Tam Po-chu, 79, said she hoped the new council would be responsive to the public. “There’s no use if they do not think of the Hong Kong people,” she said.

Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam, among the first to vote, told reporters at a polling station in the suburban Mid-Levels district that the government “had not set any target” on the turnout rate, and she was not aware of any set by the Chinese leadership.

Beijing’s Liaison Office in the city did not respond to Reuters requests for comment on voter turnout.

Before Lam spoke, several protesters from the League of Social Democrats opposition group chanted demands nearby for full universal suffrage and waved a banner reading “forced to be silent … spirit of freedom, vote with your conscience

Security was tight around the city, with 10,000 police and some 40,000 government election workers deployed. Police chief Raymond Siu told reporters that the mass deployment was to ensure balloting at hundreds of polling stations across the city would be held safely and smoothly.

Chief Secretary John Lee, a former security chief, urged people to turn out, saying those excluded were “traitors” who wanted the vote to fail.

In the run-up to the election, more than 10 people were arrested for allegedly inciting people to cast blank ballots, including people who had reposted social media posts from others, according to government statements.
